Positive: We stayed at the so-called “Luxury Villa” in Side, although it felt more like a converted garage with high walls and a long, narrow layout. Despite the first impression, the place turned out to be quite cozy and equipped with everything we needed, and by the end of our holiday we got used to it. The location is convenient, with restaurants and shops (Migros, Carrefour) nearby, but you definitely need a car to reach the city center and do proper shopping.

Negative: A downside was the ant problem – we found them in the kitchen and bathroom (we used salt to keep them away). Still, this seems common in Side, so it wasn’t a major issue. Another surprise was the €200 security deposit requested on arrival, returned after the final damage check. In 8 years of traveling to different resorts and cities in Turkey, this was the first time we encountered such a requirement. The beds, however, were too small for two adults (we are 1.70 and 1.90 tall, over 60kg each), and one of the bedrooms was rather cramped, only suitable for one person or two small children. The open-plan living room with kitchen was functional, but the best part was the shared courtyard and pool, which really helped to avoid the feeling of being “closed in” (especially important if you suffer from claustrophobia, like I do). Parking was available in front of the house.
