Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: It's a large and clean apartment, and has just enough equipment to prepare your own meals. The location is very good for seeing the major tourist sites of Sultanahmet, and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby.

Negative: The owner did not supply the full address of the apartment after booking, and once we arrived in Istanbul they sent us to the wrong location. They then cancelled our booking as a 'no show'. Eventually, when we did finally get to the apartment, we were expected to pay for it there and then in cash, which we didn't have. We didn't have 270 euro in cash, so the guy walked with us to the ATM, as though we criminals who were going to run away without paying. He became rather argumentative when I told him we couldn't get all the money in one go, and he would need to return to tomorrow. The whole experience was unprofessional, and made us feel very uncomfortable. My wife made a video of the payment being made, just in case they said we hadn't paid. The apartment is nice once you're inside, but the building itself is horrible and dirty, which is probably why they don't want you to go there directly. There is also a strong smell in the bathroom after it rains. They need more pots and pans in the kitchen for cooking.

Summary: The apartment is fine and close to everything, but dealing with the owner(s) was quite difficult.
